Preventing sinks and drains from getting blocked

There are a few things you can do to make sure the sink doesn't become blocked. As a tenant it is your responibility to ensure you don't cause the drains to become blocked.

A few handy tips include:

  • No Grease or Oil - Never pour grease or oil down the sink. Leave the oil or greese to one side, let it solidify and then bag it up and throw it out in the rubbish.
  • Clean Regularly - It is important to clean the sink drains regularly to avoid a build up which may lead to a blockage
  • Put stoppers on all plug holes - This will stop debris and stuff that shouldn't go down a drain from going down the drain
  • DO NOT flush baby wipes, cleaning wipes or anything which isn't toilet paper down the sink. Even if the packaging says its flushable - don't flush it - put it in the bin
